Singapore Actor Comedian MC King Passed Away, Cause of Death still unknown

Life is indeed fragile and unpredictable.

In memory of Lan QingXi

The entertainment industry was jolted by the sudden death of the jovial and talented MediaCorp artiste MC King.

According to our sources, MC King had accompanied his mother to visit the doctor’s in the morning, and following that, he returned home to rest. He even informed his mother that he would reach MediaCorp at 2 in the afternoon. However, later in the afternoon, MC King’s mother found his room unusually quiet. On entering the room she saw the talented host and comedian lying in bed, struggling to breathe. He was immediately rushed to Tan Tock Seng hospital in an ambulance but passed away later. MC King’s family members are too distraught to accept any interviews.

The talented man who not only acts and hosts, but sings as well, is 40 this year. Although his weight had always been on the heavy side (around 80kg), he had always been healthy. There has been speculation that he passed away due to a heart attack but his mother has clarified that he did a medical checkup recently and all was well. The specific cause of his death is still unknown.

His current projects MC King had just completed the new Channel 8 drama Taste of Love, which is due to debut on 22 January. In the drama, he plays Michelle Chia’s elder brother, and May Phua’s screen husband. There was originally an arrangement for a media conference to be held on the coming Tuesday for Taste of Love, at which MC King was supposed to host. He had already arranged for a meeting this afternoon with the promotions team to discuss the finer details of the media conference. Following the shocking news of his death, the media conference has also been postponed to a later date. His other project was the upcoming 30-episode drama Xin Jia Po Wu Ding Xia in which he was supposed to act as Apple Hong’s screen husband. Other cast members include Chen Liping, Fiona Xie, Huang Wenyong, Patricia Mok, Rayson Tan and Kang Chengxi. His manager tells us that he had signed on for some other hosting gigs too. The production team and MC King’s managers will discuss how to settle these outstanding projects. About the King MC King graduated from the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation 9th batch Drama Training Course in 1989.

Since his graduation, MC King has acted in over 60 local Chinese drama series, English sitcom and stage plays. Some of his Chinese drama series include his very first project Friends Next Door, Witty Advisor, Young Justice Bao, Beautiful Illusions and the recent Happily Ever After.
